DEVELOPMENT GROUP FOR PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN
REGISTRATION FOR Alphabeta EELKOOLI ÕA 2024/2025 starts from 01.03.2024
Development work in the interest group creates the prerequisites for a Russian-speaking child to successfully progress in everyday life and to learn Estonian in primary school.
The main aim of the activity is to develop the child's school readiness - a set of different knowledge and skills that will help the child make the transition from a playful childhood environment to an academic school environment. In order to successfully manage the learning of Estonian in primary school, we consider it important to professionally support the child's mental, physical and social development. We implement integrated development and teaching in Estonian and Russian, in a relaxed and friendly environment.
We also aim at the social development and education of the child - the ability to control one's own behaviour, the ability to adapt in a group, a positive and trusting attitude towards peers, tolerance, helpfulness and empathy, a sense of responsibility, a sense of values, the willingness to cooperate, the ability to tolerate failure. A wide range of games and activities are important for the child's social development, in which he or she learns to respect and interact with his or her peers.
To achieve these objectives, general education and playful and active learning methods are used. We consider it important to integrate the different subjects and activities, and to introduce behaviour education and anti-bullying prevention into each day.
The main form of teaching is purposeful and integrated learning activities. Depending on the subject, different forms of learning are used (lesson, game, open class, field trip, outdoor learning, etc.). Learning activities may take place outside the premises of the school.
Development circle for future first-grade pupils, once a week.
From March 2024, every Saturday, from 11.00 to 13.00, there will be a "preparatory school". Our young students are aged between 5 and 6 years. The classes will help future first-graders to prepare for the first class in September 2025. Participation in the development circle will also help to adjust the transition of Russian-speaking children to the Estonian language of instruction in kindergarten from 1 September 2024.
The lessons are based on Estonian language teaching materials and are taught by an experienced teacher with years of experience both as a primary teacher and as a kindergarten teacher. Classes are held in a friendly atmosphere in Estonian, but the teacher can also help in Russian if needed.
