Mathematics Club “Journey into the World of Mathematics”
Solving mathematical problems is closely linked to the development of logical thinking, which is fostered by children's curiosity and interest in cognitive activities. The growth of this interest supports the child's overall intellectual development by enhancing various mental operations involved in thinking processes.
The goal is to broaden students' horizons on topics related to the 6th-grade curriculum, progressing to Olympiad-level problems and the international mathematics competition "Kangaroo." Topics include:
Fractions and operations with them;
Percentages and their calculations;
Positive and negative numbers and operations with them;
Geometric shapes: circle, circumference, triangles (their types and areas);
Coordinate planes and graphs.
Additionally, the club aims to:
Teach the correct use of mathematical language, including mathematical terminology and proficient use of mathematical symbols.
Develop the ability to focus on the quantitative aspects of phenomena, setting aside their qualitative attributes, in order to utilize observations for creating mathematical models.
